The Eligius heating system brings together the most reliable and cost effective multi-fuel boiler components to allow customers to burn almost any liquid fuel. The majority of our customers in the United Kingdom burn RFO (reclaimed fuel oil) currently circa 12p per litre, replacing their kerosene, LPG or gasoil systems where fuel costs are currently e.g. 35p litre for gasoil. Vegetable oil can also be burned; reclaimed vegetable oil can be purchased at circa 21p per litre.
At the heart of the system is the burner; designed and manufactured in the US by Inov8. Similar to a conventional oil burner it incorporates several significant and patented design features to meet the challenge of burning a variety waste-derived fuels of variable consistency. The burner is used in conjunction with a high efficiency sectional cast iron boiler of very high quality manufactured by the German company Buderus. Maintaining a consistent draft through the boiler, which is important with any boiler is especially so when burning fuels of variable composition, this is achieved with an Exhausto draft inducer.
Fuel can be stored in any bunded tank which may positioned wherever is most suitable to the site. In the case of long tank-to-boiler distances fuel delivery can be assisted with a pump. A washable stainless steel element fuel filter is fitted in the fuel line at the tank.
A compressor is used to provide a supply of air to atomise the fuel to ensure complete combustion. Compressors can be noisy so in installations where sound levels are a concern a rotary-vane or silenced piston compressor can be supplied.
